Today I got to sleep in. Jess woke me up at 8:00 with coffee, a danish, and a beautiful smile. We got the Valkyrie up, had breakfast and headed off for the Zoo.
The weather here is damp. Very humid and hot. Made the trip to the zoo muggy and uncomfortable but we had a great time despite the weather.
The St Louis Zoo is really wonderful. It has a great layout and is really geared for kids. Lots of displays and neat tidbits of information throughout. We rode the train around the park and walked everywhere else.
late in the afternoon we headed over to the farmers market down town. It was mostly closed down (late friday afternoon…) but they pointed us to a BBQ place around the corner called “Fat Tony’s”
Let me just say, it was the best BBQ ever. I had ribs and spicy sausage and brisket…. gods it was great!! The coleslaw was even fantastic. 🙂 I would come back to town just to eat there again.
After filling our bellies with awesome food, we headed back to the hotel. Now it is laundry and packing for a 13.5 hour rocket sled trip across Kansas to Denver… launch time is as soon as we get up.
So, we are going to prep for the trip, hit the pool and hot tub and relax in our room.
WIsh us luck for saturday! Maybe we will encounter more of that $2.54/Gallon gas!
