  • Ugggg.. I was right. The light at the end of the remodeling tunnel was the train. I think it ran me over.
  • Ok, getting close to the end of the remodeling projects... hope that light at the end of the tunnel is not just the on-coming train!
  • It must be the paint fumes... I am talking like Boris AND Natasha.
  • Ok, the kitchen remodel is complete, new appliances arrive this week, and both bathrooms are more than half finished. I need a nap now!
  • Ok buddy, this is the best rap video ever! http://tiny.cc/6lgjs Thanks for sending it on to me. Made my morning!

Web Design

I am not a web designer, but I enjoy a little coding now and then. Last year I built Jess’ website (jesshartley.com) using the open source project, Joomla. It came out very nice despite a bit of a learning curve, mostly due to Joomla’s specific nomenclature. Once I got through those concepts, it has turned [...]

My Own Skynet

I have been tinkering with some small simple robots from  a wonderful book  called “Junkbots, Bugbots, and Bots on Wheels”. They are easy to build and lots of fun to play with. They are cool on a completely different level than my first generation “Lego Mindstorm” gear and I am really enjoying the scrounging, found art-aspect of the [...]

Netbook Reload

Today I dumped the Ubuntu Netbook Remix (9.10) on my Lenovo S10 in favor of trying the Moblin 2.1 Beta .
I did the install from a DVD and it went very smoothly. The only thing that doesn’t work out of the box is the Wireless due to the S10’s Broadcom Drivers. You can however find a pretty [...]

Review – Crossfire Remote Pistol for Wii

I really enjoy the Wii. Its a lot of fun but what it’s been missing for me is a good FPS. Well Santa was great to me this year and got me a copy of ” Dead Space – Extraction”  and a “Crossfire Remote Pistol” , which is a totally cool piece of hardware that [...]

The Forgotten Post

Earlier in the year I had responded to a question ‘what is the best technology choice for a brand new school?’  at Slashdot and just ran across that post again so I thought I would pop the link in here for your review.

Voting has Started!

If your a geek like me you know all about GENcon, but do you know about the ENnies ?
The ENnies are, arguably, the gaming industry’s biggest and most prestigious fan awards and anyone can vote! You don’t have to be attending GENcon.
Well, Jess’ work “The Rose Brides Plight” is in the running this year under ‘Category [...]

Forgetfull?

Man, I feel bad when I forget my cellphone at home but I have nothing on these guys.

Netbook Build Update

I really enjoyed futzing with the netbook this weekend.
The hardware is really solid and the keyboard, though small, is manageable. The trackpad is easy to use and the screen is very bright and I really appreciate the matt-screen finish. All-in-all, the form-factor is very nice and easy to use. Probably the easiest hard drive and [...]

Pow! Zoom!

Just to see this thing work would be amazing! Details in the paper discuss using ‘ultraviolet argon ion lasers’ to create fusion. The lasers are powered by setting off high explosives around a core of solid argon… Way cool!

Article on Slashdot

I responded to a post  yesterday on Slashdot. The entry was requesting information on technology recommendations for their school in the UK. You can read my response here.
Would love any comments!
